Explore the Rivers by Packraft

There are two ways to be by the water: watch it… or get in.

My name is Antoine Bruge.
I am a packraft instructor (and also teach other water sports like rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding) and a fishing guide. I also have a second hat as an engineer, specializing in hydrobiology—the study of river ecosystems. I have been passionate about aquatic environments since childhood.

I organize packraft trips in the Pyrenees, between the Basque Country, Béarn, and the Landes.

My goal is not just to guide you.
It is to help you understand the river, progress safely, and experience a truly immersive adventure.

Packrafting on the Pyrenean Gaves and the Basque Nives

The packraft is a technical, lightweight, and compact inflatable kayak—perfect for exploring the wild rivers of the Pyrenees and the Basque Country.

I mainly navigate:

  • the Gaves of Pau, Oloron, Ossau, and Aspe

  • the Nive

  • the Saison

  • abroad: the Balkans, Scandinavian countries

From introductory trips to whitewater progression up to Class III, each outing is tailored to the group’s level and the water conditions.

River navigation requires more than just paddling.
You need to read the water’s movements, anticipate obstacles, and choose your trajectory. This is the teaching approach I share on every packraft trip in the Pyrenees.

An Engaged and Responsible Approach

Trained as a hydrobiologist and a former project manager in environmental protection, I firmly believe that we protect best what we truly understand.

Adventure must remain in harmony with the environment that hosts us.

Certified Packraft Instructor

My qualifications are as follows:

  • BPJEPS Canoeing and Related Disciplines

  • BPJEPS Recreational Fishing and UCC Sea

  • Engineering degree with a specialization in hydrobiology

  • Certified lifeguard (BNSSA, SSAL, PSE1, PSE2, CRR, inland, coastal, and offshore boat licenses)

Choosing a certified packraft or fishing guide in the Pyrenees or the South-West of France is essential for safely navigating these specialized environments.

Who Are These Packraft Experiences Designed For?

  • Adventurers looking to discover packrafting on rivers

  • Kayakers aiming to improve their whitewater skills

  • Groups of friends seeking an authentic experience

If you’re just looking for a simple tourist activity, there are plenty of options.
If you’re seeking a challenging, human, and immersive adventure, you’re in the right place.
